Welcome to the Rijksmuseum

Program

During the one-hour tour we will welcome you at the Rijksmuseum and will introduce ourselves via our collection. In the tour you visit different centuries and will discover the stories hidden in the building, art works and objects. Why was the Netherlands in the 17th century seen as tolerant and how did this effect the arts? What do famous painters as Rembrandt and Van Gogh have in common? And where did all this splendor come from and what were the circumstances for those who weren’t rich or had to work in slavery?

IB curriculum

This tour can be made compatible with the IB curriculum, specifically with the IB Arts courses. We offer specially designed assignments that we developed together with International Boarding School Eerde. Together with IBS Eerde we will also develop assignments for IB History, which will be available at the begin of 2022.

Prepare your visit

Part of the fun of discovering the stories of the Rijksmuseum starts ahead of the visit. For example you and your students can already discover some of the secrets of our most famous painting: the Night Watch by Rembrandt.

Good to know

Please be at the assembly point for schools 15 minutes prior to the tour, outside the museum next to the regular entrances. You can report your group with one our security guards. They will let you enter the museum. Once in the museum, you can go to the School Desk. This is the point where the tour will start.

We regret to inform you that once you have received the confirmation of the booking we cannot cancel the booking or restitute the fees unless the Rijksmuseum judges that there is obvious force majeure. Obvious force majeure does not mean cancellation due to (impending) illness, even if it is related to COVID-19.

Prior to making a booking on our website, please discuss whether the school management and the parents agree with the Rijksmuseum visit. Only the museum can (if it deems it necessary) cancel a visit, for example due to measures and/or instructions from the appropriate authorities. Please read at our terms and conditions.
