Sapali
A society of its own
Sapali fled from a plantation in Suriname. She was able to survive thanks to the rice she had concealed in her plaited hair. A fruitful secret. She brought those grains of rice with her from West Africa. What would you do in a situation in which you were deprived of your freedom and had no idea of what to expect? What secret would you carry with you? Can freedom also be a secret? Your thoughts are safe in this wall.
