Provided funding for the educational family guide for the 17th century (2013).

American Express

Facilitated the assignment of the team of Image Scientists for Operation Night Watch. Provided funding for the restoration of the Breda Wall in the Philips Wing (2014).

Ammodo

Supports the Rijksmuseum (2019 – 2024) in the realization of major exhibitions with works loaned from international collections, including the exhibitions Rembrandt – Velázquez (2019), Caravaggio – Bernini (2020), Forget me not (2021) and Vermeer (2023). Ammodo previously provided funding for the following exhibitions: Late Rembrandt (2015) and Hercules Segers (2016).

Art Mentor Foundation Lucerne

Provides funding for the Ellsworth Kelly sculpture exhibition in the Rijksmuseum Gardens. Also provided funding for sculpture exhibitions Eduardo Chillida (2018) and Louise Bourgeois (2019).

Bank of America Merrill Lynch

Provided funding for the research on, restoration of, and publication on the 18th-century collector’s cabinet with miniature apothecary (2011).

Beau Lieu et Beaux Arts Stichting

Provided funding for the acquisition of an album of drawings by Van Vianen and Lutma (2017).

Bei Shan Tang Foundation

Facilitates the international J.S. Lee Memorial Fellowship, which focuses on Chinese art history and archeology, curatorship, museum management and museum education. Dr. Ying-chen Peng was the J.S. Lee Memorial Fellow in 2019.

Blockbuster Fund

Provided funding for three exhibitions: All the Rembrandts (2019), High Society (2018) and Late Rembrandt (2015).

Cornelis Kruseman - J.M.C. Ising Stichting

Provided funding for the restoration of Piety, the painting by Cornelis Kruseman (2011).

Stichting Daendels

Provided funding for the restoration of the portrait of Leonard van der Voort by Johan Bernard Scheffer (2011).

Stichting Dioraphte

Facilitates the assignment of a junior metal restorer (2019 – 2021) at NICAS.

Stichting Dr. Hendrik Muller’s Vaderlandsch Fonds

Provided funding for the publication Mirror of Reality (2019) by curator Jenny Reynaerts, the acquisition of Portrait of the Cock Blomhoff Family by Ishizaki Yuki (2008), de multimedia tour for the exhibition Good Hope (2017), and various restorations.

DutchCulture

Provided funding for the translation of six volumes of the Rijksmuseum’s Country Series, on Indonesia, Japan, Sri Lanka, Suriname, South Africa and India.

Dutch Porcelain Foundation

Provided funding for various acquisitions, including two Loosdrecht porcelain portrait busts, of Maarten Tromp and Michiel de Ruyter (2013), and Musical Company (2017).

Facilitates the assignment of an Accessibility Manager (2020).

Stichting Elise Mathilde Fonds

Provided funding for the restoration of Woman at a Mirror by Gerard ter Borch (2013).

F.G. Waller-Fonds

Provides annual funding for a large number of acquisitions for the Rijksprentenkabinet, since 1938.

Fonds 21

Main sponsor of Teekenschool. Provides funding for art education for mbo (vocational education) students (2020). Also provided funding for various acquisitions and exhibitions, including the exhibition Matthijs Maris (2017).

De Frans Mortelmans Stichting

Provided funding for the publication Mirror of Reality (2019) by curator Jenny Reynaerts.

Getty Foundation

Provides funding, through the Getty Paper Project, for the collection catalogue of seventeenth-century paintings and for the cataloguing and digitisation of seventeenth-century drawings.

Gieskes-Strijbis Fund

Enables the Rijksmuseum, until 2020, to support international, young scientists who contribute to research in the area of photography and glass disease (in collaboration with The Corning Museum of Glass and the Conservation Science Center van de Universiteit van Dallas). Also provided funding for the 2015 exhibition Late Rembrandt (2015) and restorations preparatory to the reopening of the Rijksmuseum in 2013.

Stichting Isaac Alfred Ailion Foundation

Provided funding for the Japanese translation of A Narrow Bridge, part of the Country Series.

Jaffé-Pierson Stichting

Provided funding for several acquisitions, including that of the 17th-century Japanese lacquered chest from the collection of Cardinal Mazarin (2013).

Janivo Stichting

Provided funding for Document Nederland Junior (2018 – 2020).

K.F. Hein Fonds

Provided funding for various acquisitions including the album of drawings by Van Vianen and Lutma (2017), as well as Ishizaki Yushi’s 1817 portrait of the Cock Blomhoff family (2008).

National Library of the Netherlands and the National Archives of the Netherlands

Provide funding, through the Metamorfoze programme, for the digitisation and conservation of sketch books and journals.

Royal Society of Asian Art in the Netherlands (KVVAK)

The collection of the KVVAK has been on permanent loan to the Rijksmuseum since 1952, and makes for the biggest part of the collection Asian art. Funded the acquisition of Silver Pheasants under Spring Blossoms, the Chinese hanging scroll by Ye Shuangshi (c. 1500), at the occasion of KVVAK’s 100th anniversary in 2018.

Stichting Maatschappij tot nut van ’t Algemeen

Provided funding for the restoration of the dolls’ house belonging to Petronella Dunois (2011).

M.A.O.C. Gravin van Bylandt Stichting

Provided funding for various projects including the publication Mirror of Reality (2019) by curator Jenny Reynaerts, the KWAB exhibition in 2018, and various acquisitions including that of a group of five Chinese objects from the collection of A.E. van Braam Houckgeest (2003).

Mellon Foundation

Annually facilitates year-long pre/post-doctoral fellowships since 2013, with a focus on cultural diversity in the Netherlands (after 2020). Also supports the multidisciplinary cooperation Netherlands Institute for Conservation, Art and Science (NICAS), of which the Rijksmuseum forms a part.

Stichting Michiel de Ruyter

Provided funding for the restoration of Michiel de Ruyter and his Family by Juriaen Jacobsz (2012).

Mondriaan Fonds

Provided funding for various exhibitions including 80 Years’ War (2018), Good Hope (2017) and Document Nederland (2014 and 2016), and acquisitions including the artistic estate of Ed van der Elsken (2020), Jacob Vosmaer’s Flower still life (2020) and Dutch Girl at Breakfast by Jean-Étienne Liotard (2016).

Dutch Research Council (NWO)

Provided funding for various scientific projects including the Science4Arts research programme Climate Effects on Decorated Wooden Panels, and the NICAS.

Provided funding for the acquisition of equipment for Operation Night Watch and the Atelier Building, the Rijksmuseum’s centre for restoration.

Provided funding for various projects including the assignment of a junior glass curator (2019, PBCF/Hugo van Win Glasfonds), the books Mirror of Reality (2019) by Jenny Reynaerts and Everyone a Photographer by Mattie Boom (2019, PBCF/Wertheimer Fund) and Kakiemon (2000); for acquisitions including Bacchant by Adriaen de Vries (2014); and for the current design of the Auditorium.

Provided funding for the Rijksmuseum &RKD Summer School (2017 and 2019) digitisation of the Rijksmuseum’s historical photograph collection (2012). Funded the research conducted by Erma Hermens into technical art history (2016 – 2019).

TEFAF Museum Restoration Fund

Terra Foundation for American Art

Facilitates two Fellowships in American photography (starting academy year 2020-2021). Provided funding for the exhibition of Alexander Calder sculptures in the Rijksmuseum Garden (2014).

The Easton Foundation

Contributed to the exhibition of Louise Bourgeois sculptures in the Rijksmuseum Gardens (2019) and provided funding for the accompanying publication.

Stichting Thurkowfonds

Provides funding for the development of guided tours for special target audiences (f.e. people with dementia, auditory or visual disabilities). Provided funding for Operation Night Watch (2019), the development of a multimedia tour on model ships in the Rijksmuseum collection, and the acquisition of a vase by Ernest Chaplet (2013).

Tiffany & Co. Foundation

Provides multi-annual funding for conservation and research of the Rijksmuseum’s jewellery collection (2015 – 2022).

Turing Foundation

Founding benefactor to the Turing Museumplein Bus (2011 – 2015). Provided funding for the acquisition of The Breach of the Saint Anthony’s Dike near Amsterdam by Jan Asselijn (2015) and the exhibition Hercules Segers (2016).

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)

Provided funding for the 2017 Document Nederland photography exhibition, for which Anouk Steketee focused on the theme of statelessness.

Rembrandt Association

Provided funding for the NICAS research project Drawing out Rembrandt, and for various acquisitions, including the artistic estate of Ed van der Elsken (2020), Jacob Vosmaer’s Flower still life (2020), Dutch Woman at Breakfast by Jean-Étienne Liotard (2016) and Bacchant by Adriaen de Vries (2014).

Provided funding for the 2014, 2015 and 2016 editions of ‘History Night’ (Nacht van de Geschiedenis) at the Rijksmuseum.

VriendenLoterij

Provides regular funding for acquisitions and supports special projects such as RijksStudio, Music in the Rijksmuseum, the Rijksmuseum Bus and the annual sculpture exhibition in the Rijksmuseum Gardens. In 2019 the VriendenLoterij provided additional funding for the Year of Rembrandt. It also provided funding for various acquisitions including the photograph and video collection of Erwin Olaf (2018), Bacchant by Adriaen de Vries (2014) and Flower Still-life with an Alabaster Vase by Van Spaendonck (2018).

VSBfonds

Provided funding for various acquisitions including Dutch Woman at Breakfast by Jean-Étienne Liotard (2016), and for projects that improve public outreach, such as the Good Hope exhibition and multimedia tour (2017).

Stichting Zabawas

Provided funding for the Operation Night Watch research team, multiple restorations during prior to the reopening of the Rijksmuseum (2010 – 2013), educational activities and the multimedia tour for two exhibitions: Late Rembrandt (2014) and Frans Post.
