Merian and daughters

The Rijksmuseum is working hard to give women’s perspectives greater visibility in the collection and presentations. As well as three paintings by female artists now displayed for the first time in the Gallery of Honour, several upcoming temporary exhibits will put women centre stage. Rijksmuseum Print Room researcher Carolyn Mensing tells us more about superwomen like Maria Sibylla Merian, 17th-century naturalist and artist.
