On 5 October 2021, Eerde International Boarding School and the Rijksmuseum will confirm the extension of their partnership for two more years, during which they will continue to co-develop arts and culture education for international schools. Teachers from the two institutions have been working together since 2017 developing a course programme that complies with the arts and culture curriculum for international schools, enabling students from all over the world to become acquainted with the art and history of the Netherlands.

As an international boarding school, we are very proud to be an official partner of the Rijksmuseum. The unique extracurricular activities we will be able to offer our students through this unique partnership perfectly complement our existing curriculum.

Niki Holterman, Director of Eerde International Boarding School:

We are delighted to be continuing our partnership. Working with Eerde International Boarding School will mean we can make our offer of international education even better. This is a splendid way to enable students from all over the world to enjoy the art of the Rijksmuseum and the history of the Netherlands.

Taco Dibbits, Director of the Rijksmuseum

The new agreement focuses on the further honing and implementation of the history programme, which will incorporate a visit to the Rijksmuseum. We will also be combining forces to strengthen the network of international schools by holding meetings at the Rijksmuseum, where teachers will be able to exchange knowledge and familiarise themselves with the educational programme. We will also offer students short internships at the Rijksmuseum’s Public & Education department.

About Eerde International Boarding School

Eerde International Boarding School is the oldest international school in the Netherlands, and the only one with boarding facilities. Young people aged 4 to 18 of all nationalities have been welcomed here since 1934 to follow a personally mentored Cambridge or IB curriculum. Eerde International Boarding School strives to mould its students into world citizens with a set of high standards and values.

About the Rijksmuseum

The Rijksmuseum tells the 800-year history of the Netherlands, from the Middle Ages to today. We also mount several exhibitions each year, drawn from our own collection and works loaned from domestic and international collections. As a national museum for art and history, it is our responsibility to be a museum where everyone feels represented, a museum that contributes to awareness and mutual interconnection in society, a place that does justice to the full range of stories that can be told through the artworks and historical objects in the collection. The Rijksmuseum draws strength from diversity, polyphony and collaboration and strives to activate these qualities.

Essential support

The Rijksmuseum is grateful for all the forms of support that it has received in this difficult period. It is clearer than ever that government funding, contributions from the business community and funds, as well as gifts, legacies and the support of Friends are, and will remain, essential for the Rijksmuseum.
