This summer, RIJKS® Restaurant will open RIJKS® POP UP at the Zuidas in Amsterdam. From the end of August until mid-October, Executive Chef Joris Bijdendijk and chefs Friso van Amerongen and Yascha Oosterberg will work at the temporary location culinary towards the new RIJKS®, which will open at the end of October at its familiar location in the Rijksmuseum after a major renovation with a new interior and with a new menu.

Place for discoveries

RIJKS® Restaurant’s POP UP will move into its circular location at Gustav Mahlerplein 1B this summer. New dishes will be added weekly at this temporary location and RIJKS® classics will also be on the menu.

The POP UP might be the last chance to taste some signature dishes of the current RIJKS®. We will really use this temporary location to discover new products, combinations and preparation methods that we will put on the menu in the new RIJKS®. Very cool, because as a guest you might just be served a scoop! We are working towards the new selection this way, so that we can serve fantastic dishes in the new RIJKS® at the end of October and give our guests that unique experience again.

No food pics please

To keep the surprise of the new dishes until the opening, guests at the POP UP are asked not to capture the dishes on camera.

We are really working towards a grand finale in October this summer and surprises are part of that. The new RIJKS® will be spectacular, a casual restaurant with a new selection of high-end dishes and a cool line-up; a place where guests feel relaxed and welcome and... where it buzzes!

New, familiar and sustainable

In the POP UP, the RIJKS® foundation remains leading: the Dutch culinary heritage with original Dutch products dominates the menu and only the very best and sustainable products are used. The entire interior of RIJKS® Restaurant will be moved to the POP UP and the new RIJKS® restaurant will also adhere to sustainable and circular principles.

It is a given that we have to make sustainable and future-proof choices and we as restaurant can play a big role in this. We take this into account not only in our choice of products, but also, for example, in the interior.
