Verten, distances

By

Abstract

Raemakers' 45 pictures attest to a wish: to see the distance. His photos of landscapes are constructions shaped by wind, water, farmers or builders. The distance reaches to the horizon, and beyond. That horizon is accentuated because white skies breach the typical rectangular shape of the photos. Carefully chosen perspectives add one or more remarkable elements to the photos. Dominant colors and returning visual elements bring consistency to diversity and contribute to a particular style. With his photos of constructed, Dutch landscapes Raemakers places himself as photographer explicitly in the same category ad builders and farmers.
