Abstract

"During many years of journalism and educational work, Huang Tse-hsiu's photography projects provided opportunities to visit the Northeast Coast at a time when the region was under strict control. Huang's rich imagination powered the writing and images that presented the wonders of this magical land to the world. Huang used photography as a channel to present historic customs, beliefs, and culture, as well as his views on environmental changes. His photographs embodies both his personal memories, the atmosphere of the era, and the landscape in which he lived"-- Foreword from the director of NTMoFA (page 7).
