    • The most popular Dutch conjuring book of the 17th and 18th century. It was republished many times, amusing generations of children as well as adults at home and at parties. On long winter evenings families and parties amused themselves with the help of the book, trying the various tricks and games. Landwehr ascribes the book to Willem Goeree, who first published the book at Middelburg in 1679. Goeree probably chose the pseudonym Witgeest (Whiteghost) as a guarantee that the book contained white rather than black magic. The section on drawing and colouring in Het Natuurlijk Toverboek, was taken from Goeree's Inleydinge tot de Algemeene Teyken-Konst (1668).
