Alternate title
Protest photography in print 1950 - present
Abstract
This "anthology focusing on protest photography in print, presents a global selection of photobooks, zines, posters, pamphlets, independent journals, and alternative newspapers that address protest and resistance from 1950 to the present. Surveying more than 245 photography in print examples, 'Flashpoint!' is structured thematically into seven broad sections: Anti, Gender, Displacement, Race & Class, Environment, Political and War & Violence. Each theme contains multiple sub-themes that address protest photography in print from various approaches: artist interventions, tools of resistance, calls for action and the documentation of past protests, among others. Included are illustrations and detailed descriptions of photography books, fliers, journals, alternative newspapers, posters and zines from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, France, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, Mozambique, Myanmar, New Zealand, Spain, South Africa, Thailand, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, and more."--Front flap of dust jacket.
