Explanatory note

  • Van den Burggraaff wilde een serie (twintig afleveringen met telkens vier platen) uitgeven met kostuums uit alle provincies van Nederland en België onder de titel 'Costumes du peuple de toutes les provinces des Pays-Bas'. Hij begint met deze serie in 1825 en eindigt hiermee bij de dertiende aflevering in 1830. Omdat in 1830 België zicht afsplitst van Nederland geeft hij de prenten daarna apart uit onder de titels 'Costumes de peuple Hollandais' en 'Collection de costumes du peuple des provinces de la Belgique' (1835).
