Explanatory note

  • De prent maakt deel uit van de serie 'Voyage à Athènes et à Constantinople ou collection de portraits, de vues et de costumes Grecs et Ottomans' die tussen 1825 en 1839 in tien delen van vier prenten werd uitgebracht. De in totaal veertig prenten dienden samen met een tekst van 52 pagina's voorzien van vignettes als een verslag van de reis die Louis Dupré in 1819 naar Athene en het huidige Istanboel maakte (zie documentatie).
