Getting started with the collection:
Assorted Philips lightbulbs
Reijer Stolk (1896-1945), pencil, pen and ink, with wash, in or after 1916 – in or before 1945
Wilhelm Röntgen printed the world’s very first X-radiographs in late December 1895. These included what would become an iconic photograph of his wife’s hand with a ring. It is obvious that the artist and advertising designer Stolk was inspired by the photograph when he designed this poster for lightbulbs.
