Explanatory note

  • De brief betreft de voltooing van een pentekening (cf. cat. no. 256). In de laatste regel schrijft Goltzius dat hij God niet genoeg bedankt heeft dat hij zich weer zo gezond en goed voeld terwijl hij zich eerst depressief voelde, vaak zich zorgen maakte om zaken van gering belang. Dit is waarschijnlijk een verwijzing naar een depressie waarvan Goltzius zich net hersteld had.
