"The work is focused on the collections of Rudolf II. in Prague and their destinies in the light of inventories from 1576 to 1860. A more specific idea of the content and value of today's completely scattered collections can be obtained mainly through sources that have been published in many different places since the 19th century. The work collects data on sixty inventories and lists arranged in chronological order with all available information (description, dating, storage) and supplemented by explanatory texts that facilitate understanding of these sources in the broader context of Rudolfinian collections, their history and location in Prague and their dispersal during the next centuries. The work, supplemented by 25 documentary photographs, concludes with an extensive bibliography and a register of names.
