Spanish pigs
From the series Frogs and cheese-headsAll of the characters in this satirical print from the Eighty Years’ War are animals. This is no random selection of species, because each one carries its own particular meaning. The geese and the Dutch lion are ‘goodies’, for example, while the pigs represent the Spanish ‘baddies’.
