The most striking aspect of this lithograph is its subtle tones. Depicted is the moment when the singer and dancer Marcelle Lender, wearing a Spanish-inspired costume, thanks the audience for their ovations. She is best known for dancing the bolero in the operettarevue Chilpéric. The cropping of the portrait is reminiscent of the then popular Japanese colour woodcut portraits of stage actresses.

Volgens de beschrijving van deze staat bij Wittrock heeft Ancourt de kleur donkerroze gebruikt voor de hoofdtooi van de artieste. Waarschijnlijk is deze druk in de collectie van het RMA zo verkleurd dat nog slechts een lichtroze tint zichtbaar is. Ook andere kleuren hebben hun kracht verloren maar dit springt minder in het oog (vergelijk Wittrock 1985, afb. p. 261). De vierde staat verscheen in een oplage van 1211 exemplaren, waarvan 36 kunstenaars editie en 75 luxe editie en de 1100 overige in gewone editie.
