Indeed SK-A-399 is not clearly identifiable until the 1858 museum catalogue, which states, like the inventory book drawn up in 1901, that the picture was from the Van Heteren collection. Of the six pictures by Teniers in the 1809 museum catalogue, two were sold, Amsterdam (de Vries et al.), 4 August 1828 _sqq_., nos. 129 and 130; this latter - no. 299 of the 1809 catalogue - has been identified, with qualification, with the present picture (SK-A-399).
